Connecting Shopify lets Stride track visibility at the product level — whether AI assistants recommend your specific products, not just your brand — and powers Commerce readiness analysis.

Why connect it

Product recommendation queries ("best waterproof hiking boots for wide feet") are where commerce buyers increasingly start. Tracking them requires knowing your catalog, which is what the Shopify connection provides.

  1. Open Dashboard → Settings → Integrations
  2. Expand Shopify and enter your shop domain (your-store.myshopify.com)
  3. Choose Connect Shopify — you'll be redirected to Shopify to authorize
  4. Approve the requested permissions and return to Stride
  5. Confirm products are syncing (usually within a few minutes)

Permissions requested

OAuth connects with read-only catalog access. Stride requests additional permissions only when you choose a related capability:

  • Collections: the existing product-catalog permission.
  • Pages: Shopify's narrower Online Store pages permission.
  • Blog articles: Shopify's separate content permission.
  • Publishing from the Actions Workbench: optional write permissions, only when you choose to publish.

Stride does not read orders, customers, payments, staff members, or contributor contact/device data.

Custom app token (alternative)

Some stores connect via a Shopify custom app Admin API token instead of OAuth. The token must include at least read_products. Reauthorize if scopes change.

Storefront content sync

Choose the published content types Stride may use:

  • Collections use the catalog access already granted to Stride.
  • Pages request Shopify's read_online_store_pages scope.
  • Blog articles request Shopify's separate read_content scope.

Shopify may describe the article permission broadly in its approval dialog. Stride reads only each selected article's published title, URL handle, body, publication state, update time, and blog handle — never contributor email, IP, browser, or operating-system data.

Open Stride → Settings → Integrations → Shopify (or the embedded Stride app in Shopify) to select the content types you want to include. The Shopify app's connection summary shows the current product, page, article, and collection counts in Stride's content index.

Turning a type off retires its Shopify source immediately. A matching URL may remain indexed if Stride also discovers it through your public sitemap. Use Sync now in the embedded Shopify app or Stride Settings to import selected content immediately; otherwise it refreshes daily at 03

UTC.

Troubleshooting

Products not appearing. Confirm products are published to the online store sales channel; unpublished products aren't visible to AI crawlers either.

Catalog out of date. Sync runs on a schedule and via webhooks — not instantly after every edit.

Publish failed / reauthorize required. Publishing from the Workbench needs write scopes. Disconnect and reconnect through OAuth to refresh permissions.

Disconnecting

Choose Disconnect in Settings. Stride stops future syncs and removes stored credentials. You can reconnect at any time.
