Summary
Ahrefs Brand Radar is the better buy for SEO teams that want to see a whole market: its AI Visibility Index covers more than 476 million prompts across six AI platforms, with no setup, inside the Ahrefs suite many teams already pay for. Stride fits teams that want to track the questions their own buyers ask, get each gap turned into a drafted fix, and see in GA4 what AI visitors spend. Research and reporting teams will usually prefer Ahrefs; small marketing teams and online stores that need output should look at Stride.
Stride publishes this comparison and is one of the tools in it. Facts about Ahrefs come from its own public pricing and product pages, checked on October 12, 2026, and are linked where they appear. Where another tool is the better choice, we say so.

Facts last verified October 12, 2026. Prices and plan limits change often; each vendor's pricing page is linked so you can check today's numbers.
Ahrefs' figures come from its pricing page, its Brand Radar page and its custom prompts page. Stride's come from our pricing page.
What is the real difference between the two?
They start from opposite ends. Brand Radar's AI Visibility Index models prompts from real searches in Ahrefs' keyword database, then shows how often any brand appears in the answers. You can open a competitor's AI visibility on day one without writing a single prompt. Ahrefs says the index is best once your brand already appears in AI search.
Stride starts from the questions you choose: the ones your buyers ask before they pick a brand. It scans those on a schedule, and every finding becomes an action item. For content gaps, Stride drafts the page or the edit from the answers and sources in your own scans, then later scans show whether the prompt moved.
Brand Radar also tracks custom prompts, so the overlap is real. The fork is what happens next: Ahrefs hands you research, and Stride hands you the next piece of work. Our Semrush AI toolkit alternatives page ranks Brand Radar against other suites and specialists.
Which tracks more AI engines?
Ahrefs, clearly. Brand Radar covers Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini, and Claude is available at 8 checks per update. Its index alone lists more than 268 million AI Overviews prompts.
Stride's Starter plan tracks ChatGPT only. Grow adds Gemini and Claude (still in beta), plus Google AI Overviews on the first 15 prompts you add. Scale adds Perplexity and full AI Overviews.
Stride doesn't track Copilot, Google AI Mode, Meta AI or DeepSeek. If your buyers search in AI Mode or Copilot, that settles it.
What does a team like mine actually pay?
If you already pay for Ahrefs Lite or higher, custom prompts cost nothing extra up to your plan's allowance: 5 prompts daily on Lite, 10 on Standard and 20 on Advanced, each on one platform. Ahrefs counts one check per prompt, platform, location and update, so tracking on more platforms uses the allowance faster. Packages add 2,500 checks a month for $50, 7,000 for $100 or 25,000 for $250.
The AI Visibility Index starts at $199 a month, and Ahrefs lists it as an add-on on its pricing page. On top of Lite, that comes to $328 a month before any prompt packages.
Stride is sold on its own. Starter is $99 a month for 25 prompts weekly on ChatGPT. Grow is $349, or $279 billed annually, for 50 prompts three times a week on three engines, three seats and 25 content drafts a month. Stride has no keyword or backlink data, so most teams pair it with an SEO tool they already own.
Which shows what AI visits are worth?
Both show AI traffic; they measure different things. Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is free, shows the pages AI search already sends visitors to, so you can make more of what works. Its Bot Analytics shows when AI crawlers read your pages.
Stride's AI traffic view reads GA4 and reports sessions, conversions and revenue for each AI source on every plan. If your manager asks what ChatGPT visitors bought last month, that is the number you need.

Stride's Action Items board, shown with sample data.
Stride's limits are plain. Starter scans weekly on ChatGPT only, there is no market-wide index, and there is no API, MCP, SSO or SOC 2. The action items feature shows what you get in exchange.
Two quick scenarios
An SEO lead at a publisher. They already run Ahrefs Standard and need to show where AI answers name rivals across hundreds of topics. Brand Radar fits: the index covers the market without writing prompts, and the 10 included custom prompts track the handful that matter most.
A founder running a supplements store. They don't pay for an SEO suite and want to know whether ChatGPT recommends them, and whether those visitors buy. Stride fits: Starter tracks 25 buyer questions, each gap becomes an action item with a draft, and GA4 shows revenue from AI visits. Our Stride vs Semrush page covers the other big suite.
Frequently asked questions
Is Ahrefs Brand Radar or Stride cheaper?
It depends on what you already pay for. Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month includes 5 custom prompts tracked daily, Standard includes 10 and Advanced 20; extra prompt packages start at $50 a month and the AI Visibility Index at $199. Stride Starter is $99 a month on its own for 25 prompts tracked weekly on ChatGPT.
What is the Ahrefs AI Visibility Index?
A database of more than 476 million prompts that Ahrefs models from real searches in its keyword data, across AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. You can look up any brand's AI visibility with no setup. Stride has no market-wide index; it tracks the prompts you choose.
Which tracks more AI engines, Ahrefs Brand Radar or Stride?
Ahrefs. Brand Radar covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini, with Claude available at 8 checks per update. Stride tracks up to four, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude (beta) and Perplexity, plus Google AI Overviews, and does not track Copilot or AI Mode.
Does either tool tie AI visits to revenue?
Stride reads GA4 sessions, conversions and revenue for each AI source on every plan. Ahrefs Web Analytics shows which pages AI search sends traffic to; the Brand Radar page does not mention conversions or revenue.
Can I try both before paying?
Ahrefs' Brand Radar page offers a free AI visibility preview for any brand. Stride has a free audit that needs no account and a 7-day free trial on Starter, Grow and Scale, which requires a card.
