What is GEO?
Generative Engine Optimization — the practice of getting your brand recommended by AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini. Where SEO optimizes for position on a results page, GEO optimizes for being named in a generated answer.
Is GEO just SEO with a new name?
No. They overlap — both reward clear, credible, well-structured content — but the target is different. SEO competes for a rank position among ten links. GEO competes to be one of the two or three brands an assistant names in prose, where there is no second page and no click to measure.
Does Stride replace my SEO tools?
No. Stride measures something your SEO tools can't see: whether AI engines recommend you. Most teams run both, and the contrast between them is often the most useful signal available.
Which AI engines does Stride track?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Grok, plus Google AI Overviews. Which ones are included depends on your plan — see the pricing page.
How often does Stride check my visibility?
On a schedule set by your plan, and you can trigger scans manually. See Scheduled scans.
Why does my score change when I haven't changed anything?
Because AI engines are non-deterministic and get updated by their vendors without notice. Read the trend across several scans rather than any single result — see Understanding your Visibility Index.
How long until my changes show up in AI answers?
Days to weeks. Engines have to re-crawl and re-index your site first, and some models are retrained on a much slower cycle. Anyone promising immediate movement is overselling.
Do I need a credit card to try Stride?
No. The free audit requires no card.
Can Stride guarantee AI engines will recommend my brand?
No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Nobody controls what these models output. Stride measures where you stand, shows what's working for the brands that do get recommended, and prioritizes the changes most likely to help.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Scheduled scans stop when your subscription ends. You keep access through the end of the period you've paid for. After closure, Stride deletes or de-identifies customer data within a reasonable period, except where law or security requires longer retention. Disconnecting a Google Analytics or Search Console integration removes its credentials, cached provider data, and provider-derived proof observations; limited non-sensitive aggregate status and a disconnect audit marker may remain where needed for integrity, security, legal, or dispute purposes.
