Summary
GEO software fits teams with someone who can publish and edit pages each week: it costs less, starts the same day, and keeps the data in your hands. A done-for-you GEO agency or service fits brands that lack writers, outreach or technical help and will pay for execution; Daydream, Bluefish and XFunnel all sell services, priced by quote. Stride sits on the software side, with drafted fixes that shrink the hours a small team needs.
Stride publishes this comparison and is one of the tools in it. Facts about Daydream, Bluefish, Relixir, XFunnel, Knowatoa, Goodie, Promptwatch come from their own public pricing and product pages, checked on October 13, 2026, and are linked where they appear. Where another tool is the better choice, we say so.
What is the difference between GEO software and a GEO agency?
GEO software asks AI engines your buyers' questions on a schedule and reports whether you were named or cited. Some tools also draft fixes. Your team does the work and owns the account.
A GEO agency or service does the work for you: audits, strategy, content, technical fixes and off-site authority. Several now run on their own software, so the line is blurring.
We compared eight options on what the provider says it does, how pricing works, who controls the data, and how fast work starts. Services firms are described only from their own sites, checked October 13, 2026. Stride publishes this page and is ranked by fit for a small or mid-sized team.

8. XFunnel

XFunnel's Enterprise plan pairs daily monitoring with weekly expert meetings and managed services: AI-first content creation, Reddit reputation and engagement (run by a partner agency), Wikipedia strategy and an affiliate network. HubSpot announced an agreement to acquire XFunnel on October 31, 2025.
Limits: the site's buttons now lead to "Get updates". Price: custom, per XFunnel's pricing page.
What does each path cost you beyond the invoice?
Software costs time. Budget a few hours a week to review drafts, publish pages and check results. Drafting tools cut this; they don't remove it.
An agency costs control. Ask three questions before you sign: whose account holds the tracking data, what happens to the history if you leave, and which pages they will publish under your name. Also ask how they report results: the same buyer questions on the same engines, before and after.
Both cost patience. AI answers shift as engines re-crawl, so judge any approach on several weeks of the same questions, not one scan.
Can you get both?
Yes. Some agencies run client work on white-label software. Stride's agency plan is a $499 monthly platform fee plus a discounted plan per client, with client logins and a handoff that moves a site into the client's own account with its history. Our agency page explains it.

When is an agency or service the better choice?
When nobody on your team has hours for GEO and you need off-site work: outreach, Reddit, Wikipedia or PR. When an enterprise brand needs strategy aligned across many teams, Bluefish or XFunnel. When you want SEO and AI search run as one program, Daydream. When you want founder-level help on content strategy, Knowatoa's services.
When is software like Stride the better choice?
When you have one person who can publish, and you want to keep control of the data and the spend. Stride turns each gap into a drafted fix grounded in your own scans, and later scans show whether it worked. If you need more articles than drafts, see our GEO tools that write content.
Two quick scenarios
A Series B SaaS company with no content team. They need dozens of pages, link outreach and technical fixes this quarter. A services firm such as Daydream or Relixir fits, priced by quote.
A DTC brand with one marketer. They can publish two pages a week and want to know which ones matter. Stride fits: action items rank the gaps, drafts cut the writing time, and GA4 revenue per AI source shows what paid off.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a GEO agency cost?
None of the services firms we checked publishes a price as of October 2026. Daydream, Relixir and Bluefish route you to a call or demo, and XFunnel lists custom pricing for its Enterprise plan with services. Self-serve GEO software starts at $29 a month for Otterly Lite, and Stride starts at $99.
Is GEO software or a GEO agency faster?
Software is faster to start. Gauge, for example, says it starts running your prompts the day you sign up. An agency can be faster to finish the work, because it supplies the writers, outreach and technical help that a small team lacks.
Can I use GEO software and an agency together?
Yes. A common split is software for measuring and an agency or freelancer for the work. Ask any agency which tool its reports come from, and whether you keep the data and history if you part ways.
What does a done-for-you GEO service usually include?
On their own sites, services firms describe audits, strategy, content production, technical fixes and authority building such as link outreach, Reddit or Wikipedia work. Bluefish and XFunnel pair services with their own software; Daydream combines AI agents with dedicated experts.
When is GEO software enough on its own?
When someone on your team can spend a few hours a week publishing and editing pages. Software that drafts the fix, like Stride's action items, cuts that time, but a person still reviews and publishes.
